Beauty and the Beast was the Christmas production ending 2007 at Cardiff's Sherman Theatre.

Continuing the Sherman's tradition of thrilling Christmas productions for all ages, the show is a dark and magical adaption of the classic fairytale, written by Charles Way and directed by David Bond. Theatre-Wales described it as "a delightfully enchanting retelling... in a unique, perfectly crafted jewel of theatre art."

Set in Wales and telling the story of a young girl sacrificing her freedom, the show features a soundtrack by John Hardy Music as well as dance, trickery and an impressive, gothic set that builds up an evocative, edgy and magical production.

"(the) music and sound enrich the eerie atmosphere... (the action) played out to the accompaniment of howling wolves and very fine, variable and appropriate music.”
